Kathy Reichs Books in Order
Kathy Reichs (born July 7, 1948) is an American author, forensic anthropologist, and academic who created one of crime fiction's most beloved characters, Dr. Temperance Brennan. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Reichs holds a Ph.D. in physical anthropology from Northwestern University and is one of only approximately 100 forensic anthropologists certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology.
Reichs has worked as a forensic anthropologist for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in North Carolina and for the Laboratoire de sciences judiciaires et de médecine légale in Montreal, Quebec. She has also served as a professor of anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her real-world expertise in forensic science brings unparalleled authenticity to her fiction.
Her first novel, Deja Dead (1997), introduced readers to Temperance Brennan and won the Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel. The success of her novels led to the creation of the hit Fox TV series Bones (2005-2017), starring Emily Deschanel as a fictionalized version of Temperance Brennan. Reichs served as a producer on the series throughout its twelve-season run.
Reichs has written over twenty novels in the Temperance Brennan series, as well as the Tory Brennan young adult series featuring Tempe's great-niece. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide. She divides her time between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Montreal, Canada.
